Company B is a 1940s jump jive band that dress as American airmen.

There are lots of groups playing 50s rock and roll and plenty of Big Bands. Company B, however, occupies a space in between. And they’ve got a red hot horn section!

Their High octane shows are rowdy, and although they play swing tunes, they have a rock and roll sensibility. More ‘rock band’ than ‘Glenn Miller’.

A Company B show is a night of retro escapism, delivering fun, musicianship and audience engagement. The audience is not nostalgic for a time they remember, but rather, they enjoy the escapism of a romanticised, retrospective ideal.

In line with this, the visual branding takes its cues from uniform badges of the era, mid-century Americana and vintage aviation graphics.

The project culminated with the delivery of a flexible brand tool kit, covering everything from colour palette, fonts, icons and a suite of logos catering for a variety of applications.

Various items of visual reference from the Company B re-branding project including Vintage air force uniforms, badges, airplane nose art and a propaganda poster.

The rich visual heritage of the era provided inspiration for the project. From uniform badges to vintage aviation graphics.
